Last Week of School!

LAST DAYS OF SCHOOL

All these pictures are from the last two weeks of school! We had a lot of fun and just took pictures the whole time.

Making zucchini bread with Christina.(:

SCHOOL BBQ

PROM!

I went and got ready with a few friends for prom(: We all just had short dresses but it was still such a fun night. When we got there, the whole place was decorated and there was live music. Later, we had a DJ who was really really good. The theme of the ball was "American Prom" so of course there was "Punch" in a big bowl. Like in the movies.. :P

GRADUATION!

We went with the whole class a few days ago and finally got our diplomas.
I was pretty excited and I got a great gift from my school. Kuifje (Tin-Tin) is a Belgian comic strip. The school gave me a book and a really great letter to go with it. I was surprised and really grateful!

Gent is a really beautiful city. I've only been there for a few hours.. and I wasn't able to see much.. but I really can't wait to go back and actually visit. Here are a few pictures of the day.

AFS BBQ

We had a BBQ with AFS a few weeks ago. It's always really fun when we get everyone together again after a while. We had a big cookout (indoors due to the rain) with people from ZUL and NOL and MIL (three AFS committees).

AFS made a present for us to give to our host families and also a gift for us, a yearbook cd with every exchange student on it. We also had to dance in front of everyone.

During the cookout, TV-Limburg was there and recorded some of it. It aired on TV the next Friday (:

Back to the Sea....... (:

A few weeks ago, we had a really beautiful weekend of hot hot hot weather. It was probably about 80 to 90 the whole time. It was extremely perfect timing seeing as Astrid and I had plans to go to the sea!

On our first day there, we walked around the shopping street and hung out in the sun.
We went and tanned on the beach and fell asleep in the sun.
The weather was absolutely perfect.. It was the first time that I was able to wear a bikini and go in the water and not be absolutely freezing in a really long time. I wanted to stay at the beach for forever.

After dinner, we went and had fish foot baths. I have to tell you, it freaked me out a little bit. And I was laughing so hard that I was also crying. I couldn't get over the fact that something was touching my feet.. and it made it 20 times worse because they were fish!!
They pretty much eat your dead skin and go in between your toes and on your ankles. BAH! Even though I was freaked out, I wouldn't mind doing it again cause my feet were so soft afterwards!

Astrid and I decided that there was some weird obsession with The United States because everywhere I went, there were 15 t-shirts, dresses, hats, bikinis, shoes and pants with the flag on it. It was pretty obnoxious and I was kinds sick of it after 2 days.

After hanging out with feet-biting fish, we went and had cocktails on the beach while the sun was setting. It was a BEAUTIFUL moment and I seriously wish I could go back right now! -With just as good weather, of course!
After that, we went and watched the finals of The Euro-vision Song Festival.

On our second day, we went to 'Sea Life'. It's pretty much a rehabilitation place for animals with problems. Also, they give shows and things to teach people about the animals.

It was a really nice place, they had tons of fish and crabs and creepy crawly things that I was glad I didn't have to touch.

They also had seals; turtles and penguins. Those are the big things that we saw.
The seals were so cool. A few of them could do tricks.
The turtles.. were boring. There were a ton of them. And they didn't move much. But when they did, you was that they were all trying to fight over a spot on the log where they could tan in the sun. It was pretty funny when they tried kicking each other off or even sat on top of another turtle.

The penguins were super adorable and they kept trying to jump over the fence. They were beautiful but we never got to see them swim.

Brugge!

A few weeks ago, I went to Brugge with some friends. I didn't really know what to expect there, but as soon as I got there, I felt like I was back in Venice. The whole city is surrounded by water. You could take horse carriage rides through the streets and boat rides through the little rivers.

It was a super busy day in Brugge and luckily, it only rained for about 15 minutes in the morning and then stopped. The rest of the day was beautiful and sunny!

I was super pumped when I found lobster. I'm not someone who eats it a lot, but I've been craving it for a few months now! It's super expensive here, but Belgium is known for their mussels which are also super yummy!

Speaking of mussels, we all went to a cafe and had lunch together. One of the boys had mussels so we all ended up eating a little bit of it too! Yummyyyy!
We sat in the sun for like 2 hours and just enjoyed it.

The group!
We went around the little shops and looked for souvenirs and things. I found a Belgian flag and a coffee mug, two things that I've been looking for for a while.
